Password and security
For: Everyone Where to find it: Click your avatar (bottom of the sidebar) → Settings → Password
This page lets you change the password you use to sign in to Tourium. For extra protection, add a second sign-in step — an authenticator app or a passkey — under Settings → Two-factor auth. See Two-factor authentication.
Common tasks
Change your password
- Open Settings → Password.
- Type your current password in the first field.
- Type your new password in the second field.
- Type the same new password again in Confirm password.
- Click Save.
If everything matches and your current password is correct, Tourium saves the new password immediately and you stay signed in. Tourium also emails you a security alert saying your password was changed, so you'll notice if it wasn't you.
If something goes wrong
- Current password is wrong. The form clears the current password field and focuses it again so you can retype. Nothing is saved until the current password is correct.
- New passwords don't match. The form clears the two new-password fields and puts the cursor back in the first one. Try again, being careful to type the same thing in both boxes.
Error messages appear in red under the field that caused the problem.
Choosing a good password
Tourium enforces minimum password strength when you save. Even when the minimum is met, a stronger password is always safer. Good practice:
- Use at least 12 characters.
- Mix upper and lower case, numbers, and symbols.
- Don't reuse a password you already use somewhere else.
- Consider using a password manager to generate and store a long, random password for you.
Protect your account with two-factor authentication
A password on its own can be guessed, phished or leaked. Two-factor authentication means someone also needs your phone (for an authenticator code) or your device (for a passkey) to get in. A passkey can even replace your password entirely — click Sign in with a passkey on the login page. Your organisation's Owner can also make two-factor compulsory for everyone. See Two-factor authentication.
Confirming it's you before sensitive changes
Some changes decide who can get into your account, so Tourium asks you to prove it's you again first, on a Confirm it's you screen. You can confirm with your password, a passkey or a code from your authenticator app. It's needed to:
- add or remove a passkey or authenticator app, turn two-factor off, or generate new recovery codes;
- change your email address (on Settings → Profile).
Once you've confirmed, you can make these changes for the next 15 minutes. Changing your password also counts as confirming. If you signed in with Google or Microsoft and have never set a password, confirm with a passkey or authenticator code, or choose the link on that screen to have a link emailed to you so you can set a password. See Two-factor authentication.
Security alert emails
Tourium emails you whenever your sign-in details change: a password or email change, an authenticator app or passkey added or removed, two-factor turned off or reset, new recovery codes, or a recovery code used. The email says what happened, when, and the IP address and browser it came from. If it wasn't you, sign in, remove anything you don't recognise and change your password.
Signing in with Google, LinkedIn, Facebook or Microsoft
If you created your account with one of these providers, you sign in with the matching Continue with … button on the login page, and your password for that provider is managed there, not in Tourium. Microsoft sign-in accepts work, school and personal Microsoft accounts.
I forgot my password
If you can't sign in, use the Forgot password link on the login page. Tourium will email a password reset link to the address on your profile. Make sure your email is verified — see Profile settings.
Tips
- All three fields are required every time you change your password, including the current one.
- Changing your password does not sign you out of other devices automatically. If you're worried about a lost or stolen device, change your password and contact support.
- There's no "password history" visible — Tourium doesn't show you what your previous passwords were.
