The Guide
For: Everyone Where to find it: Ask the Guide in the top bar, the user menu, or press
?anywhere
The Guide is the in-app help assistant. It answers questions about how Tourium works in plain English, takes you to the right page, points at the right field, and — when you ask it to — fills a form in for you while you watch.
It is always available on every page, and it knows which page you are on, so "where do I set the end date?" means the end date on the screen in front of you.
Opening and closing it
- Press
?anywhere outside a text box, or click Ask the Guide in the top bar (the compass icon, next to Feedback). - Press
Ctrl+/(⌘+/on a Mac) to open or close it — the same shortcut toggles it either way. - You can also open it from the user menu in the top right.
Where it appears depends on the size of your screen: from tablet width upward it docks beside the page so you can keep working; below that, on a phone, it opens full screen. Dialogs stay open while the Guide works in them.
What it can do
Answer questions about Tourium. "How do I upload a rate sheet?", "What is a pricing rule?", "Who can invite a colleague?" Answers are written from the help articles and arrive as they are written, with a link to the full article. Clicking the link opens the article inside the panel, so you never lose your place.
Take you somewhere. "Take me to my specials" opens the Specials page and tells you it did.
Point at the right control. "Where do I set the end date?" highlights the field on the page you are on.
Fill a form in for you. "Create a special called Winter Deal at 15% off from 1 June to 31 August" opens the form and fills each field one at a time so you can watch it happen. When it has finished it shows a review card listing everything it entered and points at the button you need to press next.
- It never presses the final button. Nothing is saved, sent or approved until you press Save, Send or Approve yourself.
- Undo on the review card puts every field back exactly as it was. (On screens that save your work as you go, such as the rate-sheet review, the review card says so, and the screen's own undo is the way back.)
- If part of what you asked for does not fit a field — a name that matches more than one option, say — it fills what it can and tells you what it left.
It can fill in forms on many screens, including:
- Rates: the rate-sheet upload (details, supplier, sharing) and the review screen (property, provider, rate and service details, and the lists of inclusions, taxes, child rates, seasons and closed periods).
- Agreements and messages: the details of an STO agreement, the dialogs for sending an agreement, a chat message, a request to start a conversation, and a support request with its notes and resolution.
- Team and quotes: a team member's details, a quote's send dialog, the price of a quote line, and commissions.
- Itineraries: the dialog for a new itinerary.
- Also: guided setup, brands, your organisation, pricing, specials, connection lists, rate requests, Tourplan, CRM, and bookings and supplier invoices.
For anything that goes to someone else — a message, a conversation request, a support request, an agreement, a quote — it writes the draft and stops. It will say "I've written the message, have a look and press Send", never that it was sent. Which screens it can fill depends on your plan and permissions: it only works on screens you can open.
Show you around. "Show me around the rates area" offers a walkthrough: a card you press to start, then a stop at a time with Next and Back. You can leave halfway, carry on working, and come back to it later — ask "what was that last stop?" and it will tell you where you left off.
Help during setup. In guided setup, Ask the Guide sits in the setup header beside Save & exit and Log out, with a short intro card. It can answer "what's this step for?" about the step you are on and fill in the step's fields for you, and it always stops before Continue. On a phone, the list of setup steps opens from the Steps button in the same header.
What it will not do
- It never presses a button that commits something. Save, Send, Continue, Approve, Delete, Accept, Decline, Archive, Terminate and Convert are always yours to press. On the rate-sheet review screen that includes Approve & Process, re-extracting and removing anything.
- It never sends, deletes, signs, uploads or pays. It will not choose a file for an upload, sign an agreement, open a conversation for you, or touch payment details. It will point at them and explain them, but it will not use them.
- It never triggers a website scan (the "Auto-fill from website" and "Find data" buttons), because those cost money.
- It does not answer questions about your rates, properties or clients. That is Touri Chat's job, and the Guide will point you there. The Guide knows how Tourium works; Touri knows what is in your account.
- It does not make things up. If the help does not cover your question, it says so and offers to pass it to support.
- It respects what your account can do. If a feature needs a module your organisation does not have, or a permission you do not hold, it explains that instead of sending you to a page you cannot open.
Support requests are not the same as asking for help
A support request in Messaging goes to a supplier or agent you are connected to, not to Tourium. If you ask the Guide to "raise a ticket with Tourium", it does not open that form. It offers to pass your question to the Tourium support team instead (see below).
When it cannot help
Ask the Guide to pass the question on and it raises a support request. You get a reference like HLP-000001 and a link to a page in your account showing the conversation that was escalated. The same reference goes to the Tourium support team by email, along with the conversation, so you do not have to explain it twice.
You can raise up to five of these an hour.
Telling it when it got it wrong
Every answer has a thumbs up and a thumbs down. A thumbs down lets you add a note saying what went wrong. Both go to the Tourium team, and questions the Guide could not answer are collected so the missing help gets written.
Your daily allowance
Each organisation has a daily allowance for the Guide, shared by everyone in the account. If it runs out, the Guide says the organisation has used its allowance for today and comes back at midnight. In normal use you will not reach it.
Privacy
Before a question reaches the assistant, personal details in it — email addresses, phone numbers, identity numbers — are swapped for references such as [[M1]]. The assistant works with the references, and Tourium puts the real values back only where you read the answer. Forms are filled with the real address or number you typed; it is only the assistant that never sees it.
Switching it off
An owner or manager can switch the Guide off for the whole organisation in Settings → Organisation → General. The button then disappears for everyone in the account. Switching it back on restores it immediately.
